Arizona Brain Capital Alliance (ABCA)

Connecting Research, Leadership, and Action to Advance Arizona’s Brain Capital

The Arizona Brain Capital Alliance (ABCA) is a nonpartisan, cross-sector initiative operating under the nonprofit Lyrics ‘N Leadership Institute for Brain Health, with independent nonprofit status pending. ABCA serves as a statewide convener, research collaborator, and catalyst for action, bringing together leaders from business, education, healthcare, government, research, and community organizations to strengthen Arizona’s brain capital.

Brain capital is the combination of brain health and brain skills, including creativity, critical thinking, adaptability, resilience, emotional intelligence, and problem-solving. These essential human assets influence educational achievement, workforce readiness, innovation, economic prosperity, and quality of life.

As brain capital emerges as a national and global priority, ABCA is committed to ensuring Arizona is not simply participating in the conversation but helping shape the future of the brain economy.

Our mission is to inform, empower, connect, and equip Arizona’s organizations, businesses, policymakers, and communities with the research, resources, strategic partnerships, and evidence-based practices needed to advance brain capital across the state.

Our Vision

To make Arizona a national and global leader in brain capital by creating a state where brain health and brain skills are recognized, developed, and protected as essential foundations for human flourishing, innovation, economic vitality, and community resilience.

Our Commitment

The Arizona Brain Capital Alliance believes that brain capital is everyone’s business. From early childhood development to healthy aging, from classrooms to corporate boardrooms, and from local communities to statewide policy, strengthening brain capital requires collective leadership and coordinated action.

We connect the people, research, resources, and opportunities needed to turn scientific knowledge into meaningful progress.

Our Six Strategic Priorities

  1. Translate Research Into Action
Gather, analyze, and disseminate the latest brain capital research, Brain Capital Index data, and emerging scientific developments. Particular attention is given to the impact of artificial intelligence on brain health, cognitive development, creativity, and human skills. Translate complex research into accessible, actionable strategies for Arizona’s organizations, policymakers, businesses, and families.
  2. Convene Cross-Sector Leaders
Serve as a statewide hub connecting researchers, educators, healthcare professionals, business executives, government leaders, nonprofit organizations, and community advocates. Produce conferences, summits, leadership retreats, and educational events in partnership with Lyrics ‘N Leadership Institute and other organizations to accelerate collaboration, share innovations, and inspire collective action.
  3. Champion Brain Capital Integration
Identify, support, and elevate organizations that intentionally incorporate brain capital principles into their policies, programs, workplaces, and organizational cultures. Promote evidence-informed practices, encourage measurable outcomes, and recognize Arizona organizations demonstrating leadership in strengthening brain health and brain skills.
  4. Build an Inclusive Statewide Brain Capital Movement
Engage diverse voices from every generation, demographic, geographic region, and economic sector to shape Arizona’s brain capital priorities. Ensure that children, families, older adults, rural communities, and historically underserved populations are represented in conversations, research, and solutions that influence their well-being and future opportunities.
  5. Connect Arizona to the National and Global Brain Economy
Represent Arizona at national and international brain capital events, research forums, and policy discussions. Establish collaborative relationships with other state alliances, universities, global initiatives, and industry partners to exchange knowledge, attract resources, and position Arizona as a leader in brain capital innovation.
  6. Advance Research, Policy, and Innovation
Partner with Arizona universities, research institutions, and ABCA member organizations to develop peer-reviewed research, white papers, policy briefs, and innovative community-based initiatives. Encourage interdisciplinary research that bridges neuroscience, education, public health, technology, workforce development, and economic policy. Translate findings into practical solutions that strengthen the brain capital of Arizona’s children, families, workforce, and communities.

We are not simply advancing the conversation about brain capital. We are helping Arizona put brain capital into action.

Healthy Brains. Creative Minds. Thriving Communities. A Stronger Arizona.
